چکیده

Carbon-coated TiO2 catalysts were found to have high photocatalytic activity for photodecomposition of methylene blue in water, higher than TiO2 without carbon coating [1]. However, these catalysts used for phenol decomposition showed lower activity than TiO2 without carbon coating. Also lower adsorption capacity of phenol on carbon-coated TiO2 catalysts was noted by comparison with adsorption of methylene blue [2]. Therefore, the chemical modification of carbon layer on TiO2 particles is proposed in this work to increase the attraction of phenol molecules to the catalyst surface. By increasing adsorption on the catalyst surface high decomposition rate of phenol was expected.

Photocatalytic and Self-Cleaning Properties of Ag-Doped TiO2

Commercially available TiO2 of anatase structure produced in the Chemical Factory Police S.A. was modified by doping Ag from AgNO3 solution via photodeposition method. The obtained amount of deposited Ag on TiO2 was in the range of 0.11 to 0.98 mass %. Deposition of Ag on TiO2 resulted in the retarding of the recombination reaction and formation of the higher amount of OH radicals on the photoc...

Carbon Supported Cu and TiO2 Catalysts Applied for Ozone Decomposition

In this article a comparison was made between Cu and TiO2 supported catalysts on activated carbon for ozone decomposition reaction. The activated carbon support in the case of TiO2/AC sample was prepared by physicochemical pyrolysis and for Cu/AC samples the supports are chemically modified carbons. The prepared catalysts were synthesized by impregnation method. The samples were annealed in two...

Influence of Dissolved Ions on the Water Purification Performance of TiO2-Impregnated Porous Silica Tubes

TiO2-coated porous silica glass tubes containing macropores were fabricated and evaluated for their water-purification capacity using aqueous solutions of methylene blue. From the results of photocatalytic degradation tests at different initial methylene blue concentrations, the equilibrium adsorption constant (K) was determined to be 4.6 × 10−2 L μmol−1, and the Langmuir-Hinshelwood rate const...
